We invite you to experience Unity’s special Burning Bowl Ceremony this Sunday at 10:30 am. Following the lesson, there will be a meditation in which we write all that we would release from 2022, burn it in the flames of the burning bowl, and then complete it with a letter to God giving thanks in advance for our heart’s desires for 2023. The letter will be held unopened by Unity North and mailed to you in the early Fall of next year so you can see what has been realized.
Those of you participating on Zoom can go through the ceremony with us from the comfort of your home. You can burn your paper(s) in a candle flame and dispose of the ashes later. You can keep your letter sealed until next Fall and read your letter then. If you received a holiday bag from us, you will need the small, thin papers, the ballpoint pen, the sheet of stationary, and the envelope. If you do not have the bag provided by us, you can search in advance for those items and have them nearby for the Service.
The beginning of a New Year is an important time to release the past, all that which we need to let go of so we can be free to experience a new start. What is it you need to forgive or give up? Is it resentment, anger, worry, fear? Or all of the above? You can take the opportunity to write it down and cast it into the fire to let it go. Be sure to release not only your personal past, but whatever negative events have taken place in our country and in our world over this last year.
Then, what is it you want to attract? What are your dreams, your visions, your heart’s desires? That is the new focus as we let go. There is great power in writing our desires and then praying that God’s Will for good be done. We use our imagination, and we perceive our personal and collective desires coming true. We firmly believe it, activating our faith and any needed actions. There is no reason to be afraid to ask for what we truly long for. The scriptural promise in Matthew 7:7 is: “Ask and it shall be given; seek and you shall find; knock and the door shall be opened.”
Rainer Marie Rilke said, “And now we welcome the New Year, full of things that have never been.”
Happy New Year!
Love & blessings,
Rev. Kathy
