Sunday Service - Via Creativa—Creativity and Birthing

This Sunday, we continue with the third week of our 4-week series called “Unity and Creation Spirituality.” The lesson title for this week is “Via Creativa—Creativity and Birthing.”

In Path 1—Via Positiva, we feel the awe and blessing at the wonders of creation and our magnificent universe.

In Path 2—Via Negativa, we feel pain and suffering and mystical awakening. We learn to dare the dark in silence and stillness, as we let go.

In Path 3—Via Creativa, we acknowledge our light and darkness and wholeness, and we give birth to something new through our magnificent gift of creativity.

Theologian Matthew Fox wrote “Creativity: Where the Divine and Human Meet” in 2004 to discuss the nature of creativity. In his book, Fox argues that creativity is a spiritual activity that comes from the heart and is influenced by a higher power. He believes that creativity is what differentiates humans from other species, and that it's a key to our capacity for both genius and evil. Fox also suggests that creativity is the most prayerful and spiritually powerful act a person can do.

In those moments when we are creating, we lose a sense of time and space and become one with the creative act itself. When we catch ourselves in that zone, we have the opportunity to meet our Creator God in a blissful time of intimate connection. We are aligned with the quantum field and feel a deep resonance with the All. From this consciousness, we bring forth our unique gifts, and realize we are truly a co-creator with the Divine.

Happy Birthing!

Love and blessings,
Rev. Kathy
