Gratitude is more than just saying thanks for our good. It is a dynamic spiritual tool that can help us create the lives we want. Unity co-founder, Charles Fillmore, said, “It has been found by experience that a person increases his blessings by being grateful for them.” Gratitude actually increases our abundance!
The great German Mystic Meister Eckhart said, “If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is thank you, it will be enough.”
Gratitude is life’s magnet. It truly is a miraculous force…a living energy, like a magical magnet generating, and then attracting, so much more than we have already received.
Jesus was an example of this. It is told that He was able to provide enough food to feed 5,000 men plus women and children…so perhaps 10,000 people, when there were only 2 fish and 5 loaves of bread. He gave thanks in advance and then there was an abundance of food.
God’s law is the abundance of all good, and it is the universal nature to give. We see proof of this generosity in all of nature. The trees are not clothed scantily; an ear of corn is not barely covered with grain but covered with an abundance; there are varieties of trees and flowers and animals too numerous to count; and we visualize a snowfall, and we know that no two snowflakes are ever alike.
This magnificent universe is blessing us all of the time. Let us pause on this Thanksgiving holiday, and for a time, forget our worries and cares, and remember our blessings. One can stop in the moment, look around, and begin to count them. Or we can go within and consider all that is good in our lives and speak that most important prayer of gratitude—“Thank you!”
May you feel the power of gratitude through this holiday season!
Love and blessings,
Rev. Kathy
